Accounts work for a long time and never fail. I have successfully tried logging into 50,000 accounts from one IP address without any problems.
These accounts are intended ONLY for viewing mail and changing passwords. They do not allow you to send emails or use other features.
Although the accounts do not support IMAP, they do have an API for reading emails. (Login and click "API" to learn more)
